Frequently Asked Questions
How much would a commission cost?
Short answer? It depends on what you're looking for. I get tons of DMs or emails everyday asking this same question and this is exactly the answer you'll get. I have to know exactly what you're commissioning me for so I can give you an exact estimate for how much time, work, etc. will go into it for a fair rate. If you're looking for a Picasso, expect to be charged as if you wanted a Picasso.
Understood. So how do I get an estimate?
After you reach out explaining a bit about what you're looking for, we'll schedule a call to talk more about the project! Once we speak a little more, I'll know exactly what it is that you'd want and I'll give an estimate of the cost. If everything's good from there, I'll send an invoice!
Great! now we can start?
Almost, I swear.
After sending the invoice, I do request a deposit of half of the total invoiced in advance. This works as insurance for both of us. For you, as a reassurance that you have purchased my services for the project as requested in the invoice. Also for me, so that I'm reassured that you will follow through on the project requested as well. FOLLOW THROUGH IS IMPORTANT!
Of course! now we're starting right? What should I expect?
Yes! Let's begin!
So my process when dealing with a commission can vary a bit, but the main timeline will usually be as follows:
1. I'll use our initial call for info to draft up some sketches for the project, which will be sent to you within a week after receiving the deposit requested.
2. We'll schedule a second call or have email correspondence regarding those sketches and what changes you may want or edits you'd like.
3. I'll use that correspondence to create a 1st draft illustration of the project, which should be sent to you within the week of the call/email exchange we previously had.
4. After the 1st draft is sent, one last call/email regarding that 1st draft will happen.
5. Depending on how you like the draft, I'll either make a few edits or changes as discussed and make a FINAL draft or if its perfect for you, I'll clean up the 1st draft a bit and send over the FINAL draft then!
YAY! that's it?
Pretty much! Well after the project is finished of course, the other half of the invoice will have to be paid before receiving the final files of the project
Then that's it! Most projects at most take 3 weeks to finish.
Please note as well that if a last minute rush on the project is given or if exhaustive edits are made, this can effect the estimate given.
